The authorities of the Greek island of Syros (Cyclades archipelago) are thinking about the development of accessible tourism for people with disabilities. Among the initiatives is the rest on the shores of the Aegean Sea on the equipped beaches. In July, on two beaches - Galissas and Agathopes, SEATRAC devices were installed, which allow people with reduced mobility to get to the sea by mobility ramps. And on the sand, solid wooden walkways appeared, suitable for people in wheelchairs and parents with small children, who paved from the parking lot to the water.

Other amenities include a wooden dressing rooms and umbrellas.

Last year the Vari and Voulgari beaches were adapted in a similar way. This makes Syros one of the few resort destinations in Greece with four special beaches, the local municipality said in a statement. Soon, the authorities of the island are planning to release a promo video with a story about the possibilities of accessible recreation in Syros.
