Shanghai Disney Resort has launched a new service for visitors with hearing impairments: now the famous Disney Characters Parade is held with sign language interpretation.

With this innovation, the park decided to mark the International Day of Sign Languages, which is held at the end of September. The translation is carried out in real time during the parade by invited experts in the Disney Pixar Toy Story Land. The task of the translators is to convey funny phrases and songs that are sung by favorite cartoon characters of children from all over the world - Mickey Mouse, Aladdin, Peter Pan, Simba and other characters, so that deaf and hard of hearing viewers can completely immerse themselves in what is happening.

The service is available upon request: visitors can book a translation service on the official website of Shanghai Disney Resort or in the park itself. In addition, for the first time, a week of sign language is held here - from 21 to 27 September, during which visitors to the amusement park can get acquainted with Chinese Sign Language. The company is encouraging sign language learning by its employees and Cast Members on the show through a new corporate program and special lessons where they are taught basic skills to easily communicate with guests with hearing impairments.

Actors who use Chinese Sign Language as their primary mode of communication wear name tags with sign language pins to make them more easily identifiable by guests and other Cast Members. They are also equipped with handwriting pads to support conversations with guests and their fellow Cast Members.
